24th Bountiful Carnival

It wouldn't have been the 24th of July without a little Bountiful celebration.  We decided to take the boys down to the carnival.  It was a huge hit with Lukers.  I remember loving the carnival when I was little.  The 24th of July was one of my most favorite holidays growing up because of the Bountiful activities.  I know they're not Mark's favorite but he is a pretty good sport for our kids!

Luke felt super cool carrying around his tickets and couldn't wait to spend them!  He was having sensory overload when we first arrived and couldn't decide what to do first.  By the time we left he had enjoyed every activity there was...bounce house, fishing pond, train, and the list goes on!

My favorite part is always the junky food!  Without fail Mark tells me not to eat it, but I don't listen and end up with a stomach ache.  For some reason 100 degree weather and hot cinnamon sugar scones don't mix.  I bought Luke a snow cone which was a huge mistake because it ended up all over him and the ground.

Brody was a trooper as usual.  He had a great time talking to us and looking around at all the people.  I sure love these two little boys and love watching them enjoy life!

TV Junkie

Mark always makes fun of Luke that he has the "Waite Eyes."  Luke is obsessed with TV and Mark blames it on my family.  Now little Brody has even developed the "Waite Eyes."  He loves TV and can always be entertained by it.

Right now he will watch anything, but his favorite is Baby Einstein.  Brody smiles and talks to the people on the screen.  Sometimes his little body gets so tense and excited!  I try not to let him watch too much TV but it's hard not to sit in front of the TV with him and see how happy he is.

I love it when Luke asks me if he can watch a movie with Brody.  Luke puts his soccer chair and Brody's bouncer chair in front of the TV so they can watch together!

Winston

Last week my family went out of town so we volunteered to keep their dog Winston.  Luke was in heaven.  He spent every spare minute outside and had to take about three baths a day because he was always muddy.  Winston is a really good dog and very sweet to Luke.  I would go out and call to the two of them and they would always come running around the side of the house together.  They liked to hide under the deck or behind the bushes when it was really hot.

One day Luke decided they were going to be workers.  He got on his cowboy boots and hat to work in the yard with Winston.  He spent the entire day digging a hole in the flower beds.  Poor Winston was so hot and kept trying to lay down in the hole but Luke would kick him out.  Winston probably gained ten pounds while he was here.  Luke was sure he needed to be fed nonstop.

Luke was not happy about Winston going home.  When I told him that Papa and Grammie were on their way home from Yellowstone he called them right back to inform them that Papa doesn't have a dog named Winston anymore.  The next day we were at Costco and Luke asked a lady if she was mad.  The lady told him that she wasn't mad and asked if he was mad.  He said, "Yes, I'm mad because Papa is at my house taking my Winston puppy."  Hopefully at some point we can convince daddy to let Luke have a dog, until then we will have to keep babysitting Winston!

Job Chart

When summer started I realized that Luke needed a job chart.  It was a fight every morning to get him dressed and ready before he could play with friends.  We went to the craft store and I let him pick out what papers he wanted.  He chose construction...of course.  Then I made him this little job chart.  It is pretty simple because there's only a to do and a done side and the jobs are all pictures.

This has been a life saver.  Luke now knows what has to be done before he can go outside and play with friends.  Some mornings it takes him a little longer, but he eventually gets them done.  The best part is we don't have to fight about it anymore!!!  His favorite job is probably watering the flowers and his least favorite is cleaning up his toys.

Each week he receives one dollar for doing his chores.  He calls them his fifty dollars and he is sure he can buy anything with them.  The other night we were going to get frozen yogurt with the Kuehne's and Luke told them he would buy the ice cream because he has lots of fifty dollars!  Keep up the hard work Lukers!

B is for Boy

Last week my mom and I did my sister in law Jessica's baby shower.  We are so excited for her little guy to arrive!  Since we have had so many showers lately I decided to switch things up a bit and do it at a restaurant.  It was a lot of fun and turned out great!  I decided on a vintage ABC theme.  Once I found the adorable clipart of the vintage little boy I knew we had to work around him!  For the favors we did an ABC soup mix.  My mom had Parson's make this adorable block cake...and of course it was yummy!  It was so fun to get together with all of our family and see the cute little things they gave Phil and Jess.  There isn't much time left until this little guy arrives and we are so excited to see him!

Bedtime Stories

Lately, Luke has three bedtime stories that he wants read every night.  Happy Baby Colors, No David, and Trucks are his three favorite books right now.  We have read them so much that he now has them memorized.  For about a week Mark and I would tell him to just read them to us at bedtime.  However, the other night he asked if he could read to brother.  This melted me.  I just love these pictures.  Luke now reads to brother all the time.  He is cute to explain the pictures, point at what he is reading, and use funny voices.  Brody is so happy to cuddle up with Luke and look at the pictures.  I just love these two little boys and I hope they always stay such great friends!

Bees Game

We have been wanting to take Luke to a Bee's game for the past two years.  It finally happened.  The boys and I had a blast, but I'm not sure Mark will be wanting to take us back anytime soon.

We decided to sit in the general admission seating so that Luke could move around.  This is what stressed Mark out because he was constantly worrying about Luke and what he was doing.  One of Mark's high school friends was sitting close to us and Luke quickly became friends with their two little boys.  He wanted to spend the rest of the game wrestling and playing around with them.

I absolutely love the food at baseball games.  It's probably my favorite part.  This grosses Mark out and also gives him sticker shock.  I always want a hot dog, cotton candy, kettle corn, and a nice cold Coke. Mark thinks that I am like a little kid, but I love it!

Brody did a good job.  He played on the blanket for a while and then got hungry.  After he ate he went to sleep and slept the rest of the game.  He even slept through the big firework show at the end.

It was a fun night as a family and we will need to go again soon!  I don't think Luke learned anything about baseball nor did Mark get to concentrate on much of the game, but it was still a fun time!

Happy 4th

The day before the 4th I received an urgent text from my brother Mitch trying to figure out where he could light his fireworks this year.  Mitch and his friend Pete take their fireworks very serious and they weren't happy when Bountiful city put a ban on them.  Since Mark and I were flying in that day we decided to make it easy and just invite everyone over for pizza and ice cream.

Luke was so excited for the fireworks show.  He kept asking when it was going to get dark.  Mitch and Pete didn't disappoint.  They put on a patriotic show!!!  Even cute Brody was able to sleep through the fireworks.  Probably my favorite part was Pat and Becca's outfits.  Becca said it doesn't get more American than flag wolf t's from WalMart!  Very true!
